Β½ cup Organic Proso Millet (Chena) πΎ (washed & soaked for 30 mins)
ΒΌ cup split moong dal or toor dal (optional for protein)
1 small onion, finely chopped π§
1 small tomato, chopped π
1 cup mixed vegetables (carrot π₯, beans, peas, potato π₯)
1β2 green chilies πΆοΈ (slit)
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp cumin seeds
Β½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste π§
2β3 cups water π§
1 tbsp ghee or oil π§
Chopped fresh coriander for garnish πΏ
Optional: pinch of asafoetida (hing)
Prepare Ingredients:
Wash and soak millet & dal for about 30 minutes.
Chop all vegetables and keep ready.
SautΓ© the Base:
Heat ghee/oil in a pressure cooker or pan.
Add cumin seeds, let them splutter.
Add onion, green chilies & sautΓ© until golden.
Add ginger-garlic paste and stir for a minute.
Add Veggies & Spices:
Toss in chopped tomatoes, turmeric, salt, and veggies.
Cook for 2β3 minutes until slightly soft.
Add Millet & Dal:
Drain and add soaked millet and dal to the cooker.
Mix everything well.
Cook:
Add 2.5β3 cups of water (more for softer consistency).
Pressure cook for 2β3 whistles (or simmer covered for 20β25 mins in a pot).
Finish & Serve:
Once pressure releases, fluff gently.
Garnish with fresh coriander and a drizzle of ghee if desired.
